Middle School students (grades 5-8) take part in a special school assembly show with highly imaginative comedy skits dealing with logic, deductive reasoning and grade-related math games. Puzzles, skits and Math Magic combine to stimulate the natural curiosity of this grade level and to get students thinking about other ways in which math affects their lives. Activities include “Island Survivor” in which the entire audience must find the logical (and mathematical!) way to save people crossing a bridge in a hurricane before the bridge collapses (based on time, speed and distance) and “Vacation Investigation” in which student volunteers become one person who has to remember all answers and use logic, percentages, and simple formulas to solve the vacation mystery. Other cultural arts based math activities include “Arithmetickle Tac Toe” that incorporates algebra and geometry and “Nine Days in One Second” that uses math magic. Please check Classroom Fun for in-class enrichment activities with explanations that will amaze your middle school students. |
We can accommodate any grade combination!
