CAPS FOR SALE
(And Other Great Tales)

ÊRecording artist/composer/ lyricist Ann Marie Mulhearn presents the two stories by Esphyr Slobodkina through musical theater and storytelling.

This entertaining and educational program is designed to engage children ages 3-8 (and their families) in an interactive performance
of this classic tale and its surprise sequel, Circus Caps For Sale.

The program opens with a brief history of the author and the writing of
CAPS FOR SALE. Before the performance children learn the CAPS song and its accompanying dance.

During the performance children become active players, using their creativity to play the parts of monkeys (book one) and circus band entertainers (book two). A discussion period follows. Children are asked what they thought of the peddler"s adventures, why he is special, and why they are special.

The program complies with New York State Standard 1; students will actively engage in the processes that constitute creation and performance in the arts (dance, music, theatre, and visual arts) and participate in various roles in the arts. It is designed to encourage children to listen, learn, and work together.

A single event includes:

  • a 45-50 minute interactive performance (2 stories)
  • a CAPS FOR SALE book/CD package and a CIRCUS CAPS FOR SALE book/CD package.
  • a black and white 11" x 14" drawing for each child to take home and color.
    Êtransportation (depending on location).
