"The student and teacher response was overwhelming - The journey you took our school on was amazing! The quality of the musicianship plus the insightful commentary was outstanding, and the impact was unbelievable - you could have heard a pin drop in the auditorium, which has never happened before. Each class was transfixed, and you shared so much with them, musically, historically and spiritually". Betty Cammisa, PTA, Robert M. Finley M.S., Glen Cove, NY

The powerful, mesmerizing sounds of ancient civilizations are used as tools for experiencing and learning about different cultures, and as a way for students to connect to the natural world and to their own imagination and creativity. Through performance, participation and Q&A, students learn about the history, folklore and customs of different cultures, and are shown how the instruments are made from animals and natural objects. Language and literacy skills are stimulated and strengthened as listeners share stories of their "dream journeys" with the sounds, and then draw and write about these stories as follow-up classroom activities. Volunteers are given a chance to play some of the instruments, and everyone learns to sing a Native American chant and to make the wild animal sounds of the Australian didjeridoo.
Mysterious, exciting and highly informative, these unique interactive world music assemblies and workshops incorporate exotic instruments and objects from around the world. Cultures covered include Native (North) America, Hawaii, Australia, South America, Africa, Egypt, Japan, China, India, the Middle East, Scotland and Ireland. Instruments include Australian didjeridoo; Indian snake-charmer; Native American cedar flutes, deer-skin drums, deer-hoof rattles, eagle-bone whistle; Aztec wind whistle; Scottish bagpipes; Chinese gong; Japanese and Persian flutes; Hawaiian conch shells; Tibetan and crystal singing bowls; and drums from India, Africa and Egypt.
